BURNING FLOWERS, BURNING DREAMS
CONSEQUENCES OF SUICIDE BOMBINGS
ON CIVILIANS IN ISRAEL 2000-2005
What really happens when there is a suicide bombing?
That's the question that prompted the coordinator of this project to launch this study after seeing the BBC report about the suicide bombing of the Sbarro Pizzeria in Jerusalem in August 2001.
So, what really happens when the bus you are sitting in suddenly explodes into a ball of fire? Or, the coffee you are just about to drink is blasted away – along with your hand – as a suicide bomber detonates his lethal device?
What do you hear? What do you see? What do you feel? What do you do – if you are lucky enough to be alive – when an eerie silence erupts, followed by screams amidst the smoke, flames and wreckage?
What happens next?
